for our
6th Annual Tribute to Veterans
at Mountain Home Cemetery
Each year, we gather with gratitude to honor the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform, with special recognition of the Veterans laid to rest at Mountain Home, those living in our community, and the families who have shared in their service and sacrifice.
This year’s tribute holds special significance as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
In 1776, a new nation was born upon the principles of liberty, independence, and self-government. For 250 years, generations of Americans have answered the call to defend those principles. From the struggle for independence to the battlefields of distant lands, their courage, dedication, and sacrifices have helped found our nation, shape its history, preserve its freedoms, and extend the cause of liberty beyond our shores.
Here at Mountain Home, those 250 years of American history are reflected in the lives of ordinary men and women who answered extraordinary calls to serve. Their stories are part of our nation’s history, our community’s heritage, and the legacy we have a responsibility to preserve.
A Morning of Remembrance, Gratitude, and Fellowship
Our tribute will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a brief commemorative service, including:
- Special recognition of Veterans in attendance, with our heartfelt thanks for their service.
- A special presentation by the American Legion Honor Guard — Ider Team, whose continued participation adds dignity and meaning to our annual gathering.
- The placing of American flags on the graves of Veterans throughout Mountain Home Cemetery, honoring each individual whose military service has been identified.
Following the service, we invite everyone to participate in placing American flags at the gravesites of our Veterans.
There is something especially meaningful about standing beside the final resting place of someone who served our country, placing a flag in remembrance, and knowing that their service has not been forgotten.
These simple acts of remembrance connect generations. They remind us that the freedoms we enjoy were not secured without sacrifice, and that remembering those who served is both a privilege and a responsibility.
As we commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, we invite you to join us in honoring the men and women who helped make possible the enduring promise of One Nation Under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Everyone Is Welcome!
This is a community gathering, and you do not need to have a family member buried at Mountain Home to attend. We especially encourage Veterans, military families, children, and young people to join us.
Hot cocoa, coffee, juice, water, and snacks will be available. We hope you will stay, visit with neighbors and friends, share memories, and enjoy a time of fellowship.

If you know of a Veteran buried at Mountain Home whose grave does not identify their military service, please let us know. Information from families and community members is invaluable in helping us identify Veterans, document their service, and preserve their stories for future generations.
We also want every local Veteran who wishes to attend to have the opportunity to join us. If you know a Veteran who would like to attend but needs transportation, please contact us. We will do our best to help coordinate a ride.
