250 years ago on June 14, 1775, the Army was officially organized and sanctioned. More than a year before the Declaration of Independence was signed. The Army was instrumental not only in winning the Revolutionary War and American Independence, it has protected and defended our country against enemies both foreign and domestic every day since.
Today is also our national recognition of our beautiful American Flag. Flag Day is a holiday celebrated on June 14th in the United States. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.
Today, It represents our past, present, and future, and reminds us all of the sacrifices made to secure and maintain our freedom.

Today was also a notable day at Mountain Home.
A new American Flag was raised!
It’s only fitting that on the 250th birthday of the U.S. Army and Flag Day, that two local Veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces helped hoist Old Glory in front of the church.
Founded some 86 years after the Army, Mountain Home is the oldest cemetery in the community, and is the final resting place on this earth of over 100 Veterans.
Thank you to all who served in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, or Merchant Marines!
