On Saturday, May 4, 2024, the last workday scheduled before the Decoration on Sunday the 26th, several items were on the list for completion.
Removing all remaining flowers so the grounds could be properly groomed before Decoration, filling in a low place in the cemetery that had gotten worse over the winter, and the biggest item was tearing off the top of the outside table and replacing it with new lumber.
The outside table has been a fixture at Mountain Home – even before it was called Mountain Home! From the time the cemetery was established, there was always ‘dinner on the grounds’ every year at Decoration, and other special events.
There were plenty of folks who came to help – and enough hammers and pry bars to go around! A picture is worth a thousand words, so the progress pictures below must be worth a book – to us it’s priceless.
All of the work planned was finished, and the new table top is waiting for its first official attendance and participation in Lunch! On Decoration Day 2024 – Sunday, May 26th.
